García is a principal with the law firm of Miller Canfield and former Corporation Counsel for the City of Detroit. His legal career has involved extensive work in litigation, as well as government relations and counseling of corporate clients.  García has worked to give greater voice to the Latino community in Southeast Michigan for many years and currently serves as the Cesar Chavez Academy Board Chair, as well as a member of the Detroit Institute of Arts’ Board of Directors. He has also served as president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan and as chairman of the Hispanic-Latino Commission of Michigan.
